Fix Generic Host Process Error Video Tutorials

We have chosen some useful videos that show some ways of solving Generic Host Process error.

  • The first thing you need to do is press Start>Run and type in ‘regedit’. Click OK.
  • Now you should go to directory HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then click on folder System, then CurrentControlSet.
  • Now scroll down until you find NetTB folder, click on it, and choose Parameters.
  • Now in the right window find “TransportBindNameX” at the end of right side window. Double click this value and delete the data titled \Device\ to leave it blank.
  • Now you should go to Start>Control Panel>Administrative tools>Services and double-click on it.
  • Now find auxiliary NetBIOS ICP/IP and click right mouse button to see its properties, change StartUp type to “automatic” and apply it.

Another way to get rid of the problem (in case you have SP2) open the link on the Microsoft portal then download and install Security Update.

First you go Start>Run and type in ‘cmd’ without the brakes in the opened window. Now you can see a command prompt. Now type in ‘netsh’ and press Enter. Now type ‘winsock’ and press Enter again. Now type ‘reset’, press Enter and restart your computer.

Way#1
Create some bat.files: The first one fixes vulnerabilities in registries, the second fixes reset winsock, to run the third runs protection scan that would replace corrupted files. (to run this one you will need Windows XP disk).

  • to create the first one you just need to open Notepad and type in the following:
    reg add HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\netbt\parameters /v TransportBindName /t REG_SZ /d “” /f
    reg add HKLM\Software\Microsoft\OLE /v EnableDCOM /t REG_SZ /d “N” /f
  • to create the second one: netsh winsock reset netsh winsock reset catalog nets int ip reset c:\tcip.txt
  • to create the third one: sfc /scannow

To make these files bat.files you need to change “Save as” to “All files” and add ‘.bat’ to the file name
Now click on the bat.files respectively and see if it has solved the problem.

Way#2
If you have SP2 you can fix this error by installing hotfix from Microsoft.

Way#3
Download a specialized tool. It’s an easy and very efficient way to get rid of the Generic Host Process Error.
For example: Combofix (to run it you need to disable your antivirus system)
